Samba Logging, or, More info than you need, none you want

Riddle me this, sportsfans: why is it that Samba floods my logs with crap about elections and browse masters, why is it annoyingly fucking mute on the simple but important fact as to why a person can or cannot log into the service?!?

Yes, I'm sure to about a dozen people on the planet, this highly-exercised and ergo reliable code is incredibly important:
Feb 21 02:20:04 victim nmbd[20892]: [2007/02/21 02:20:04, 0] nmbd/nmbd_become_dmb.c:become_domain_master_stage2(113)
Feb 21 02:20:04 victim nmbd[20892]: *****
Feb 21 02:20:04 victim nmbd[20892]:
Feb 21 02:20:04 victim nmbd[20892]: Samba server VICTIM is now a domain master browser for workgroup HOME on subnet 192.168.24.1
For the rest of us, however, we don't give a flying foxy fuck; we just want to have one hint, one clue, maybe the tiniest of inklings as to why the holy hell samba has decided to reject our username and password now . Not an hour ago when it was magically fucking working, but now when it suddenly stops working for no fucking reason.

In addition to dovecot, yet more software which RedHat appears to have ladled into their product without the slightest hint of anything resembling testing.

ESR was right.
